About Domain Names
This page addresses: choosing a domain name, important info about domain registration and domain names rules.

CHOOSING A DOMAIN NAME
Your domain name is the internet address of your website. For example, naturalsolutionswebsites.com or vitalityfactor.com. Here are some things to consider when choosing one:

Be creative. While it's nice to have a domain name the same as your business name, that is not always possible. For example, let's say your business is Parents for Health, but the domain parentsforhealth.com is taken. You might try variations like .net or .biz. Perhaps try hyphens between the words as in parents-for-health.com.

Suppose none of those options are available—time to think outside the box. If you were to tell someone your web address what would be easiest for them to remember? How about your name? I think you have the idea now.

DOMAIN REGISTRARS
There are many companies offering domain registration. We recommend GoDaddy for both price and excellent 24/7 live customer support.

Whichever domain registrar you use,
you are the responsible domain name manager.

IMPORTANT
To register a domain name you will create an account with the domain registrar. You can then access your account with a “username” and “password.” Don’t lose them.

Your account also includes your email address and credit card information. About three months before your domain name expires the domain registrar will start sending reminders based on the email address on file. If your email address has changed, you will not get these reminders and chance losing your domain name.

If the credit card on file has expired, the registrar can not automatically renew your domain name (if you choose that option) and it will also expire.

Keep your email address and credit card information current.

Once you register your domain name you can tell the registrar where your site is hosted. In your account on the registrars website, look for “Domain Name Servers or “Server Name (FQDN).” Enter the two Wow Pages, Inc. servers in the following order:

  • ns1.dnspup.com
  • ns2.dnspup.com

The ICANN (International Consortium of Assigned Names & Members) sets the rules for domain name management. All domain registrars follow these rules.

  • After registration, it may take up to 72 hours before your domain name it is actived.

  • A domain name can not be transferred from one registrar to another within 60 days of registration.

  • A domain name may not be transferred between domain registrars within 10 days of expiration.

  • An expired domain name is held for 30 days (sometimes more) before releasing it to the public.

  • An expired domain name cannot be transferred before it is released to the public. One can renew with the existing registrar, wait 60 days, then transfer. Or, wait until the domain is available to the public, then register with the new registrar.
